Pop icon Britney Spears recently opened up about her emotional response to an unfortunate incident involving NBA star Victor Wembanyama's security guard. Taking to Instagram, the "Gimme More" singer expressed her feelings after a video of her screaming and exclaiming, "That's America for you! F—k you all!" went viral.
The incident occurred outside a Las Vegas restaurant called Catch, where the guard backhanded her. Spears shared her thoughts on the matter, stating that she felt unequal treatment in the country but was grateful for the people who came to her aid after the incident, making her feel valued. Although she initially expressed frustration with explicit language, she emphasized that it was better than retaliating physically.
Spears acknowledged that her reaction may not have been ideal but linked it to the constraints she faced during her 13-year conservatorship, which ended in 2021. In cellphone footage obtained by TMZ, the pop star was seen approaching Wembanyama, accompanied by her husband, Sam Asghari, and manager, Cade Hudson.
The incident occurred when Spears tapped Wembanyama on the shoulder, and the security guard, Damian Smith, retaliated by slapping her, causing her sunglasses to fall off. Spears highlighted in her Instagram post that she had never experienced such aggression from a bodyguard before, despite her years in the industry and interactions with famous individuals.
She clarified that she shared her story not to play the victim but to shed light on the situation. Spears also made it clear that she still admires Wembanyama and does not blame him for the incident, acknowledging that unfortunate incidents can happen. While she filed a police report against Smith, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department declined to press charges against him.
